The short version: We collect only what we need to connect homeowners with contractors and help contractors run their businesses. We never sell your data. Homeowners' contact details are shared only with the specific contractor they request a quote from.
1. Who we are
PacificTrade ("we", "us", "our") operates pacifictrade.ai, a platform that connects Southern California homeowners with trade contractors and provides business management tools for contractors. This policy applies to all users of our platform — both homeowners seeking quotes and contractors using our tools.
2. Information we collect
From homeowners requesting quotes
When you submit a quote request through our platform or a contractor's personal link, we collect:
- Name, phone number, and email address
- Property address
- Description of the job you need done
- Photos you choose to upload
From contractors using our platform
When you create a contractor account, we collect:
- Business name, owner name, email, and phone number
- Business address and service area
- Trade type, years of experience, license number (CSLB), and insurance details
- Quotes sent, invoices created, jobs booked, and revenue data you enter
- Receipts and expenses you scan or enter
Automatically collected
- Basic usage data (pages visited, features used) — used only to improve the platform
- Device type and browser — for compatibility purposes
3. How we use your information
Homeowner data
- To connect you with the specific contractor you requested a quote from
- To generate an AI-powered price estimate for your project
- To send you the quote or follow-up from the contractor
We do not use homeowner contact details for any marketing, and we never share them with any contractor other than the one you specifically contacted.
Contractor data
- To power your quoting, invoicing, calendar, and business management tools
- To display your profile on the PacificTrade marketplace if you choose to opt in
- To improve AI pricing accuracy for your specific market and trade type
- To provide revenue tracking and tax planning guidance
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data to anyone. Period. We share data only in these specific situations:
- The contractor you contacted: When you submit a quote request, your name, phone, email, address, and job description are shared with that contractor only.
- Supabase: Our database provider stores all platform data securely with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit.
- Anthropic: Job descriptions and photos you submit may be processed by Claude AI to generate price estimates. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy.
- Netlify: Our hosting provider. Does not access user data.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or valid legal process.
5. California privacy rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to know — what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information
- Right to opt out — we do not sell data, so this right is already satisfied
- Right to non-discrimination — exercising your rights will not affect your access to our platform
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 45 days.
6. Data retention
- Homeowner quote requests: Retained for 12 months, then deleted unless the homeowner has an ongoing relationship with the contractor.
- Contractor account data: Retained for as long as the account is active, plus 90 days after cancellation to allow data export.
- Receipts and financial data: Retained for 7 years to support tax compliance requirements.
Contractors can export their data at any time using the Export CSV button in Revenue & Tax. To request full data deletion, contact us below.
7. Security
We take security seriously:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256
- Passwords are never stored in plain text — we use bcrypt hashing via Supabase Auth
- Database access uses security-hardened functions that restrict data access to the logged-in user only
- API keys are stored as server-side environment variables, never in client-facing code
No system is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please contact us immediately at the address below.
8. Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use third-party analytics services that track you across websites.
9. Children's privacy
PacificTrade is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through our platform, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as our platform evolves. We will notify contractors of material changes by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
